Don't paint in direct sun. Stain dries before it absorbs and you get streaks. Overcast and 12 to 22°C is ideal, basically any normal Fife day from May to September.
Wash first, always. 24 hours before. Dirt and dust under stain is the #1 cause of premature failure.
